Katie responded to an ad for one of my Boudoir Marathon events in the midwest, seeking a vintage-style session. Specifically, she wanted boudoir portraiture and boudoir nudes with her hair styled in a vintage style. She also wanted to feature a beautiful red vintage lingerie set she had recently acquired. Finally, she wanted to include some pin-up poses during the session.
Katie showed up with this amazing hairdo. Then she broke out this amazing bright-red lingerie with vintage nylons, among other great outfits. We decided to shoot this red lingerie first, before moving on to the others. When she walked out of the changing room, she looked like she was stepping right out of the 1930s.
Initially, I had intended to apply a vintage film post-processing look to Katie’s images. However, the vibrant red lingerie was so stunning, I decided I didn’t want to mute the color to achieve this. Rather, to me the vintage hair and styling of the lingerie carries the vintage look, without adding a fake “film look.” We did, however, also produce a set of contrasty black-and-white images. These portrayed a strong vintage vibe.
I’ll be posting additional galleries from my time with Katie, so be sure to check back. I hope you enjoy these images of Katie and her vintage boudoir style.

For the photographers that visit this site, these images were created with a Nikon Df camera (one of my all-time favorite boudoir cameras) and a mix of Nikkor prime lenses. Lighting was an Elinchrom strobe in a large soft box as key light, another Elinchrom with an umbrella for background light, with a fill reflector to soften the key light directionality as needed.
